Walking in Riverside
Walking in Riverside may sound like a nightmare for many of us. We took the time to talk to one our viewers, Justin. Justin is a second year History major who lives near the Bannockburn village. Justin elaborated on the importance of walking and how the car is almost a second form of transportation for him. He drives less than 20 miles a week and spends most of his time walking and biking around to his destinations in Riverside.
“Walking and/or biking is truly a fascinating way to experience the city like no other. Other than the health benefits, it brings a new dimension and experience of the city when you’re not in the car, you should try it!”
Justin and along with many other UCR students use alternative forms of transportation. The necessity for the automobile is definitely created by the urban sprawl that we see in today’s cities. How can city planning be refined so that we don’t have to rely on automobiles?
